body shots

in an effort to prove that breasts are one of the most popular and powerful “marketing tools god ever created,” this guy’s listed a handful of ads that put woman’s chest pieces front and center.

i’m not gonna lie. some of these are very clever (see wonderbra and fashion targets breast cancer awareness), but these are the ones that are obviously geared toward the fairer sex. the others, well clearly they’re catering to more testosterone-inhabited environs.

now a guy will be sure to pay attention to an ad if you’ve got a rack on display, but this is just pure sexploitation. homeboy even goes so far as to point out that a lady need not even hold the product to be able to sell it. all she has to do is throw on a low cut shirt, a halter top, or a bikini and the wonderful ad men behind the scenes will be sure to strategically place any text over the moneymakers, because that’s where the eye is going to be drawn. it’s a two for one deal, so you’ll be sure to notice both.

this strategy, unfortunately, is nothing new. so how to keep things fresh in this day and age? well, the girl racers ad proves that a face need not even be attached to a body anymore. you don’t get more objectification than that, folks. but now that we’ve offed with their heads, what will be the next step once we’re desensitized to this approach? will nudity become de rigueur?
